How you can find a way by yourself when your get lost in Japan?

What, If you are lost in street of Japan?

It it common in Japan you get lost in Japan because Japan is so big, every streets seems same. houses, road, ..etc. Even a Japanese will get lost in Japan, if they visit to unknown places. So, for the foreigner too, it is very common to get lost. Possiblity is 80% (my assumption).

What, Japanese will do if they get lost?

• They may answer "I will ask other Japanese".
• They may answer "I will use google map".
• They may answer "I will call my friend or my family".

But

What, foreigner should do when they get lost in Japan?

As a foreigner living in Japan. There are the few possible options You can do if get lost.

Case one: If there is no one in that place at that time. In that case return back (my recomendation only). Or you can wait for someone.

Case Two: If your can Japanese Conversation is good.
In that case, find a Japanese and get helped.

Case Three: If your can Japanese Conversation is not so good.
In that case: you have to choose following options (my recommendation only).

1. If you are shy to ask to Japanese, and you do not want to ask a way to anybody. You should use the resources that is available in that sitaution.

1.a If you do not have smart phone.
In that case: you have to choose following options

1.a.a find a telephone nearby. call your friends/family for help.

1.a.b find a police station nearby. go and visit. inform them, you got lost.

1.a.c find a information center nearby. go and visit. inform them, you got lost.

1.b If you have smart phone. And that smart phone can make a call.
In that case: You can call your friend, ask him/her to come and pick you up.

1.c If you have smart phone. and that smart phone can not make a call.
In that case: you have to choose following options

1.c.a If have smart phone. and connnection to internet. Then
In that case: you can open google map and you can see your live location.
If you want to go somewhere: you can tap where you want to go in the google map. And then click on get direction, Google map will show you the direction.

My recomendations

In order not to get lost again in future in the streets of Japan. My recomendation is to download google maps in your smart phone. There are tons feature in google maps, that will help you evertime while you get lost in where or find a train, buses to go to somewhere, search location, etc.. Make sure are connected to internet while traveling. Google maps does not work without internet. You need a internet connection.
