From 2026 June 26, new integrated card called Tokutei Jiryu Card will be issued to foreigner which contains Jiryu Card and My Number Card.

The Japanese government is set to issue a single card combining the Jiryu Card and My Number Card for the convenience of foreign nationals from June 14, 2026. This new card will be called the Tokutei Jiryu Card (Specified Residence Card), which will include the functions of both cards. This move is expected to reduce the hassle of foreigners currently having to go to immigration and city hall to apply for separate cards.
The new integrated card is said to help complete all administrative procedures in one place. It is believed that this will save time and labor. The information mentioned on the front of the card will be reduced and the remaining details will be stored in the IC chip.
You can choose whether to take this integrated card or not. This means that there is no binding rule for taking this card. If you take this card, you must carry it with you like the Jiryu Card, according to the Immigration Service Agency.
